Whoo-hoo! Awesome! Sure, it might be "just another" postcard sunset shot, but it's a good one. And I like postcard sunset shots!
Richard Sintchak 18-Mar-2003 at 17:50There's black, orange, yellow and BLUE!
While my taste typically does not run to "postcard sunsets" this one is different because of the BLUE sky. It just sets it apart from all the other ho-hum sunset photos. Gregg, I assume you went back to the beach again to shoot this one after comments on your first. Let me assure you, it was well worth it.
Bob Michaels 18-Mar-2003 at 18:22Excellent
That says it all.
Robert Goldstein 18-Mar-2003 at 19:17Now that
is a Kodak moment! Great sunset.
Kevin Conville 18-Mar-2003 at 20:23The "Kodak Moment"
is the problem, isn't it? Just too perfect! Damn. But this is a fork in the river of experience that we all seek to navigate.
George Shadoan 18-Mar-2003 at 21:00Simply
beautiful Gregg. This is indeed an ocean of things done right. Congratulations.
Knut Skjærven 18-Mar-2003 at 22:29Bask . . .
Gregg, I quite would enjoy basking in the warmth of this sunset.
Jerome Belthrop 19-Mar-2003 at 00:14yep
This is a very good postcard indeed. Well done
Jan Brouckaert 19-Mar-2003 at 05:02thanks
to everyone for the comments. Yes, this one does fall into the "postcard" catagory (or as George says, "fork" of the photography river). I actually shot it almost two years ago, at the same time as my shot of the sunset and pier. I debated about posting it because of it's stock look, but after viewing it again, I decided the beauty of the scene out weighed the "genericness" and I hoped it would brighten someone's day. I am most appreciative that you all have received it favorably.
Gregg Humphrey 19-Mar-2003 at 07:39Please
don't hold back next time, my day is much brighter!
Todd Soldwisch 20-Mar-2003 at 09:45I'd just come in from a cold freezing week in Northern China and this is perfect medicine to warm my aching bones.%%% Well done on a fabulous picture. They guys above have said it all!

Christian Dittes 15-Apr-2003 at 23:57Greg.....
Did you go by the camera's meter? what were the settings?
Steve Garza 01-May-2006 at 11:19Manhattan Beach Sunset II
Hi Steve, I wish I could remember the settings, but it's been nearly 5 years since I shot this. I do know that I bracketed several exposures from +/12 to -1/2, and typically I usually open up 1/2 stop or so from the auto setting if the sun is directly on the meter. For this particular image, the sun is nearly below the horizon, so I probably went with meter reading or possibly - 1/2 stop. Thanks for the interest.
