A tough one to shoot from the perspective of latitude of grayscale. Looking at the composition, I understand why you tried it though. I've spent a few minutes fiddling with the cropping and I would have a tendency to crop in from the left just a bit, eliminating most of the 3 branches than intrude at the middle of the frame horizontally. Perhaps time did not allow, but I would love to have seen this shot a bit later when the sky and river might have been a bit darker, yet still enough light to illuminate the tracks. You might come close to achieving this with a curves adjustment in Photoshop. As always, I'm curious as the the location...

Great photo. I wouldn't change a thing. The trees to the left set up the perspective properly, otherwise the scene would appear to flat. Great tonal range for the lighting conditions present.

I keep coming back to this image. I like it. It sparks my imagination somehow. I like rails and I like wilderness. I think you've done a very good job with the composition. Nice one.
Kevin Conville 04-Feb-2003 at 18:48Great classic lines that instantly leads the eyes into yonder. Those branches foreground dont bother me but that's subjective. I normally like an interesting sky but closing my eyes n imagining it "nah!" (there's a risk of overkill and stealing of attention from those great lines)
Ed Ng 05-Feb-2003 at 01:34Thanks for the all graet comments. I was on the overcrossing bridge between parking lot and beach. When I first look that side, I couldn't halp myself kept shooting about 4-5 times. It was my first time using G1 since I bought it and It is already my favorite camera. Thanks again!
