Anyone who has shopped near J&R in downtown Manhattan may have seen this alley way in the back of the store.

I knew it was a J&R backyard :)
This street was partially closed for the building construction for a long time and has been reopened about 2 years ago. I still remember a cold November night when WTC was still around and I had to work late on some project. I got in my car around 2 am and drove thru that street to take a shortcut to Brooklyn Bridge. My headlights lighted up massive quantities of rats fighting for food, couple of homeless people on the sides trying to keep their bodies warm, some guy high as a kite jumping in front of the car, steam comming up from menhole covers and the smell or garbage and extrements that hit the enterior of the car even if windows were closed. Yes that would be it... It looked like a scene from some post nuclear war movie. I don't work downtown anymore but everytime I pass by I still remember the ride. Good moment capture! And to think that one block down they serve one of the best burgers in NYC. Matt
