The composition is pleasing! John Bates woudl appreciate you showing us Steven. What was the time of day; do you think that the contrast is optimal?

Nice light, and a very compelling composition. I'd be tempted to play around with the contrast, as Jerome suggests...

Thanks, I think I got the contrast wrong too.
What time was it? It was 8 in the morning, on my way to work! It might look like night because I used only the blue channel in photoshop. When you go grayscale in the red, green, and blue channels, they all have their subtle differences. I will post the color version for you guys. Again, I think you are absolutely right about contrast: I tried to bring out the letters out of the shadwos, but that's not really what it's about.

Steven, I am of the opinion that BW is the bastion of this particular image. Consider, please only making a copy of the base layer, then adjusting the contrast. Perhaps a slight adjustment of the blackpoint in levels may positively aid the contrast adjustment (that is reaching). There are real experts here in the forum that might better give us consult on a better method to enliven the contrast.
