Sunday, after church - John R

I went with my girlfriend to the village her gradparents were born. Surprised me to see so many people at the cafe. Had to take this picture of these old Greek men drinking their cafe.

This is very
unsharp and very noisy, IMO. For instance I dont see why you have included the two top of chairs in the foreground (and the pole right side). I find that they block the "real" people picture here. I would crop, move much closer in and have a more even background either by setting the aperture differently, or chose another angle. You need to go back and do this once again :-). Hope you don't find this criticism TOO blunt. Do you have a problem with getting the G1 to focus accurately? I know I had in the begging.

I think the biggest mistake I made here was slight feeling of, shall I say, discomfort I felt taking pictures in a public area. I'm sure most new photographers have felt this way at some point. I have had problems focusing the G1 but mostly with the 90mm lens. The 45mm is much easier to focus, IMO. I hope to go back to this village and take some more shots :-)

you certainly have problems here :-). Why don't you marry in a hurry and go back ;:-).
Knut Skjærven 16-Sep-2002 at 15:52Good composition skills
are not being fully realized. May be a problem of focusing or sharpening or both. It's probably more than just sharpening. Are you making sure that you have one stable black square in the bottom of your viewfinder before shooting? I agree with Knut about the cropping. Are you allowing the picture in your mind's eye filter out the top of the chairs in the foregbround and the pole on the right?
