Another expertly crafted, painterly long exposure. Very, very nice.

Very original, very cool.
Richard Sintchak 11-Sep-2002 at 07:22Outstandingly creative
lovely layered effect.
Charez Golvala 11-Sep-2002 at 08:20This is
a great and different sun picture. The creativity we need to see more of. Apart from the tilted horizon this is great.
Knut Skjærven 11-Sep-2002 at 09:380.3% tilt
Knut, you're being a little too nitpicky here. Yes, it is tilted slightly. I did not notice it the first time. I copied it into PS and then made a horizontal line from left to right starting exactly at the left side of the horizon. It's 2 pixels off on the right from the left. That's about 0.3%. Is that too much? Open to interpretation I guess.....
We've got to get off this precise checking of the horizon for every shot uploaded on this site. If it's obviously detracts from the image I imagine we could mention it but the "tilted horizon police" need to lighten up IMO.
Richard Sintchak 11-Sep-2002 at 10:43Agreed
Even I think Knut is going too far, here :-)
Wilfred van der Vegte 11-Sep-2002 at 11:32Perfect
This is one of the best abstract photographs I have EVER seen. I'm off to the coast tommorow night to try this. Brilliant
Robin Hunter 11-Sep-2002 at 13:19horizon
Thanks for yours comments. About the horizon, Knut is right, it's tilted by mistake. I wear glasses and the distance between my eye and viewfinder is bigger than normal. So, I think that I see a smaller image than it is.:)
Cosmin Bumbut 11-Sep-2002 at 22:55Well
actually I did "measure" the tilt out by scrolling the picture and I was surprices that it was not more than it actually is. When I look at this pictures one of the first things I see is that it leans right and that is very disturbing in a clean a picture like this. The tilt is, to me, made apparent because of the stong horizantal line and the overall simplicity in this SUPERB image. Cormin why don't you simply correct it in PS. BTW I checked your private site. Great stuff all over. This sunrice is really upsetting. On this site most of them look quite different :-). Thank for breaking the red wave here, Cosmin.

And somehow an appropriate image for the day of posting.
Steve McBride 12-Sep-2002 at 00:30Colors
Lovely image, I especially like the colors. This is one to look at many times and see new things.
Karl Winkler 12-Sep-2002 at 18:50Achievement . . .
Cosmin how have you achieved the powder blue color swirling layer whike keeping the remainder of the colours muted?
You have demonstrated unsual craftsmanship.
colors
Jerome, I was lucky about the colors and the mouvements in my frame. I shot 2 rolls in that morning, but only 8-9 frames with the rising sun. Really, I don't know how the end of the wave remains blue (it was 6:30 AM). Maybe the movement in that area was slower than in the rest of the image, so the colors don't mix to much. First time when I shot such scenes (see "Black Sea") I was amazed why the sea looks yellow-gold. It was the yellow-red-sparklings on the surface made by the sun. Long exposure mixed them with blue-black and the result that I achieved is that yellow-sand-wheat. Simple, no?:)
Cosmin Bumbut 15-Sep-2002 at 12:38Aggreement . . .
Cosmin, I do agree-the answer is NOT simple--however, underlying the complexity of the colour filtration over the timed exposure--is a remarkably beautiful scene. ;-)
Jerome Belthrop 16-Sep-2002 at 07:25how am i missing...
your images? i haven't been looking at this site regularly, and maybe i just miss those days that you post these remarkable images. i'm just in the middle of looking at your websites (bumbutz.com and 7days.ro), and i'm thriving on the subtle, painterly hand and strong eye...i'm so inspired! i feel like i should say "thank you!"
