.

A nice idea and, the intent produced the desired result. However, it leaves me feeling a bit isolated; with only the small piece of foreground in focus. Nice try for this effect. The out of focus areas really do look interesting. I think for this composition that it should be sharp front to back. Just MHO.

An interesting shot, but agreed with Mark that this should recede from focus to out of focus, foreground to background, a little more gracefully than it actually does here. You don't list your aperture here, but I assume it's f4 or f2.8, and I personally find you need f5.6 or narrower to get a little more character and definition to the background. I don't find this type of shot as easy to pull off with the G2 (in terms of a subtle transition) than with my Nikon lenses for some reason.

Finally, an interesting picture! Unfortunately, many people tend to use our little G cameras like point–and–shoots. I think this is a very nice idea. The colors are good, and the shallow depth of field focuses attention nicely. The one thing I might recheck is the cropping. You might try a little tighter crop or even just burning in the corners a little.
