driveway with oleander - Robin Kleb

Oleander says northern California to me. That's Mt. Diablo in the background.

Nice composition
If I remember correctly, the lab didn't do the best job developing this film. Still, I think the tonal range is remarkable. Very pleasing to the eye both the image and the quality of the recording.

Did you rework this image in Photoshop, it seemed to have lost some detail, or added some grain, or is Mark telling the truth ?

Jan, this is from the same grainy roll as my other recent postings. I wasn't expecting so much grain but that's what I got. I don't mind it though. The original print that the lab did (which I scanned from) looked pretty much like this but darker in the foreground and driveway areas. I didn't add any grain, I just did that Levels, luminosity layer and adjusted the midtones to be a bit lighter. I also selected some of the darkest areas with the magic wand tool and then used "fill flash" to bring out some extra details. So the details are easier to see than on the original print. Is it the grass that looks like it has less detail to you? Maybe that is caused by me using a yellow filter and the grass being yellow? Or is it just the grainy look that gives it less detail?

Robin, this image is surreal. In this case the grain lends an --aire-- of mystique to a common subject. The perspective of the compositon--also helps me amble down the road.
