Unusual aspect ratio

I thought something was wrong with the home page loading! I like the rapt attention of the spectators and wonder what is so fascinating. The cropping seems too close on the bottom, but I assume you cut off something that was distracting. - Brad

panorama. . .

Bradley, This a lazy attempt at a panorama. The entire frame detracted from the awe of the onlookers, you are right; so I simply snipped it away. The image could have been enlarged, I suspect--but--this slice seemed to keep the attention going to the painter.

Creative and Illustrative

I like panoramas, and this has good content, but (as you yourself admit Jerome) isn't technically strong. The lesson I get from this is that the 21 Biogon, with later-cropped images, provides a relatively good way to do panoramas at a reasonable cost. True panoramic cameras, like the Noblex, are highly specialized and very expensive. Toys for very successful photographers. The 'panorama' feature on APS cameras simply blocks off the top and bottom of the frame, and would be inferior to T* lenses and cropped images. I'm not sure how the Hasseblad Xpan works. I'd be interested in seeing more (pre-visualized) panoramas, particularly with the hologon and 21 biogon. --Anker

great...

Jerome, this is great. Althogh when I first saw it I was hoping it was your first attempt at the panoramic technique we discussed I am still immensely pleased at this effect you've achieved. Wonderful use of the 21 in a unique way. The pano brings the eye across left to right focusing attention in on the person creating scene then the observers watching him. Effective, very. Nice work.

Now, my friend....where's that first stitched panorama? ;-)

Full of Interest

Excellent image, Jerome...the artist and the onlookers in a wide sweeping frame. I like this a lot and find much of interest to pore over.

Voyeurism . . .

Pseudo . . . Yes, Anker, only an-- oil strike-- in my flower garden would give me the means to purchase the very, best tool for this job :-)
Crayola does lack resolution- oomph--admittedly I was quite nervous prancing around the easel--I felt as though I was getting more attention than the painter.
The 21MM does make peoplescapes --fun---!
Richard, you are so right. I've 3 targets, er, subjects in my sights--in a few weeks when I go back to Lisbon--I hope to make the raw images---and give a jolly effort to creating a sweeping stitched image or three.
Robert, I, am saddened that I did not use a finer grain film that day. The expressions on those faces and the different body shapes---fascinate me--too. My --other project-- that is still in the planning panning phase--are 21 mm peoplescapes--I just need for the weather to improve enough--here in Germany--so that I can use a 50 ASA Pan F like film and no tripod. :-) I am a voyeur at heart.

Attention

I like the way the people in this picture all have their attention on the artist. The XPAN camera can shot a frame 24mm x 56mm wide. Jerome, have you been digging holes in your back yard again?

Mark M. Xpan. . .

Hmmmn, as soon as I become as talentd as you, or Richrd, Mark-- I may be able to earn $$ my way to a true pana gaget. ;-)

hmmm ...

I think I'd better not comment on this one Jerome.
