Another fine image
Another fine image from Eric - I'd like to have seen an alternative angle on this shot: low-down and from behind the children at the hydrant. Tightly focused to crop out background detail. Whaddya think?

I find this composition about as good as one could hope under the circumstances, i.e., I am unpersuaded that a different angle from behind the children would improve the image. I do question whether some cropping would help to focus attention on the subject. A good photo in all.

The image may have been done before (I have seen it pictures of many countries) but doing it oneself is another matter and praiseworthy. I like the 1940s feel, but the G series was not invented then, so where/when was this taken? As to croppping, using my handy piece of card, you could crop the LH side level with the 4th dark window - ie just where the density of the water changes. However, that would change the balance of the shot quite a bit and I prefer it as it is.

'Twas taken last summer on July 4th in the meat packing district in NYC. It's one of the few places that still has brick streets in the City (now that they paved SoHo and put up street lights). The film was actually pulled two stops because I forget to set the ISO (oops). I think it may have been a good mistake though. I got that beautiful Tri-X, Plus-X tonality totally by accident.

and great capture. I like your framing, you caught the kid in the water in a great position as is the girl spraying the water. Eric, any others from this subject or this day?
