A number of good elements here. I wish the framing were not quite so tight and the tilt of the building in relation to the frame is a bit unfortunate. We've had comparisons of photos on this site to the work of Edward Hopper before and this one begs comparison as well. It evokes that certain sense of lonliness or emptiness which was contained in many of EH's paintings. On a lighter note, it's good to know that the residents of Martinez have such a wide variety of breakfast options.

Good composition. Bruce has good ideas.

Robin its a shame the flag-ing element could not be included in this melancholy evoking image. I applaud the emotiveness. And, yes, on the lighter note, too---I really like the park meter! In Europe we don't have those -- like that anymore-- I encourage you to capture them---while you can--its a spot of Americana--that is fading, fast.

for your excellent suggestions. Very helpful! I tried it again with what you said in mind and I think it's a better image now. I originally cropped it in really tight to make sure the woman was noticeable. I tried to fix the tilt too. I think it worked! Thanks so much! I feel much happier with this now.

Robin.... yes! Now I'm gleeful. This crop adds the extra - I- was missing.

This is very well seen, and the person makes the shot. As Bruce said, many interesting elements. On my monitor, though, the whites are really hot...gives a surrealistic feeling to the image, but also proves somewhat distracting.
Robert Mirani 12-May-2002 at 20:41I see a really nice picture here. I'am wondering there's a panorama in it. Don't try that's my problem.
