Moonrise over Seltjarnarnes - William Symington

Couldn't keep the detail on the face of the Moon in this scan. The Aurora Borealis appeared later that evening (about as beautiful as I have ever known in the Icelandic winter) and I tried to photograph it. A dismal failure, unfortunately.

Boy
do I emphatize with your frustration. Perhaps the solution would have been to expose and shoot the moon, then shoot the foreground, and finally sanwich in the properly exposed moon to replace the background in the shot exposed correctly for the foreground. This can be done in Photoshop but due to several personal objections, I have never learned how to do this.

I don't think this needs improvement - it's so crisp and cold it's scary.
