Annika, circa 1940 - Anker Heegaard

My daughter, wearing her grandmother's blue velvet dress. Taken a few weeks ago in our side yard. The fence is broken, and consequently leans a little in the picture. This was taken so that it could be displayed beside pictures of my mother and sister in the same dress. I have others from this roll, that also capture a feel from years ago.

Great reproduction

Anker, you did a great job of capturing the feel of an old family photo. The casual framing and the picket fence background really works. If the book you created for your daughter is as well thought out as this individual image, it must be really special.

Timeless

Anker, you should be proud of how beautifully you rendered your daughter here. That Tri-X look really works well here, and the leaning fence makes the shot more interesting, I think. Her eyes pop out of this otherwise subtle portrait. Definitely one to be enlarged and framed.

a wonderful image...

....in so many ways. Great composition on the whole, great expression captured, I love the sepia tone. My *only* small nitpick would be the tips of the white pickets coming out of the top of her head looking like little horns. Sort of cute/funny in a way actually, but, did you want that? :-)

Thanks

I very much appreciate the comments and compliments, and it means more considering my own admiration for the work of so many on this site. Richard, I have stared at this pic for quite some time, but never saw the horns. (!?) So, no, not intentional, but now that I see them, I like them. --Anker
