Ear Piercer - Vish Vishvanath

This man tried to stick those things in his hands through my ears before I stopped him. And this was on a moving train. Can you believe it? I took a picture of him anyway. Hand-held in dim light. Never underestimate the power of Zeiss. G1, 45 mm, Ilford XP2

Huh?
This was taken with that "soft" 45? Why didn't you use the sharper 35? ;)
Very nice shot. Good crop too. I like the tall vertical and the slight cutting of the top of the head. Brings the elements together more for a powerful image. I agree with Linc, you're doing some real great stuff with b&w. Do you shoot the XP2 at 400? I used to like it at 200 but that was when I darkroom printing with it, have not had a chance to see what kind of neg would be best for scanning with XP2 now that I have no darkroom access for now. Any comments on that?
Capture the Moment
Well, it looks like we have a budding C-B among us. This photo is execptional, and when viewed after the image of the street child upon which I just commented, it seems that some real talent is at work here. Congradulations.

I love the composition and the quality of light on this image. Very well done all the way around.

Why didn't you let him do it? Just kidding. Loved this photo. You continue to amaze me. Such honesty in your images. They touch the soul. That XP2 really work well for you. Tom

Reminded by Mr. Bardsley, I have looked again. The smooth tones of the shirt and chest are painterly. The lighting and hand-holding must have been excellent, but are you then working some darkroom magic to produce this effect?
