Very good.
Jerome, IMO this self-potrtrait is excellent. I think it's one of your best, together with the pilgrim image. I wouldn't be able to produce such a natural facial expression in a posed image. Congratulations.
One question, though: how did you manage to do this hand-held?

Wilfred, oops, in my haste, I mucked that entry up; I tried the pose posture stuff and it didn't work so well. I used CAF mode to try for the more natural posture... I burned a lot of film, tring to find one exposure I liked. Thank you for the compliment--and the guidance. I think I am improving!

I agree wholeheartedly with Wilfred. That's about the "Pilgrim" image, too, which is one of my very favorite on this site. This is very strong, doubt I'd ever make such a well-compose self portrait! Congrats!

I should think that you have a dilemma here Jerome: whether to write a book in pure prose, or publish one with b&w portraits :-) Very good indeed.
Knut Skjærven 18-Mar-2002 at 02:44Excellent
Great self-portrait - these are difficult. Just could use a little selective burning in on skin to even out the tones and little more and maybe brig some of the skin texture out more.
Vish Vishvanath 18-Mar-2002 at 04:46Thoughtfully. . .
Everyone, thank you for the pat on the back--and every ready kick to the pants :-) This forum is the most useful one that I've EVER contributed items to-- and consequently reaped visibile improvement in my skills. Knut, hmmn, writing is easier--maybe when I breech 50 y.o. I will be able to illustrate a small book with big text slabs, and little pictures. Vish, you will have to tell me more when your time permits about using photoshop's burning tools--I've the basic concepts, but my attempts thus far have yielded ugly results--I'd like to manipulate my images wtih your aplomb!
Jerome Belthrop 19-Mar-2002 at 05:34A great quality selfportrait
Jerome, when I save a picture in the computer for my "private collection", it only means it's an excellent picture. Congrats for this!

Ludwig, I am happy you took a gander at my folder and found an image that pleased you. Too, that someone other than my Mom likes this image--is good for my ego. :-) Thanks for the honor.

Well you know I really think that this is wonderful. What are you thinking about in that picture? Dungeons?
