A Couple of Things...

Glad you visited our part of the world, Mary Alice. I like the composition of your shot a lot: the lines of the fence take the eye right to the azaleas and although they (as the focal point) might have been better served had they been in the sunlight, they weren't and there was nothing you could do about that. It's unfortunate that the focus on the rails isn't a bit sharper, though. That's probably because they're a bit blown out. Too late to do anything about it this go-round but next time try to keep from over exposing the highlights. Nice shot, though.

possible camera movement

Hi Mary, This is a nice scene (sorry, couldn't resist that one). I think the lack of sharpness might be due to a small amount of camera movement. I noticed you had the 28 mm set to f/16 with 200 speed film. Usually this would give you a shutter speed of around 1/200 or 1/250 in bright sun, but the G2 may have slowed it down due to the amount of shade in the background. Or possibly, the original image is fine and the scanner is the problem. In any case, please keep posting your images.

camera movement...

it is probably due to a LOT of camera movement...I kept slipping into a ditch...was out " shopping" that day and did not have good shoes on..but I saw the fence......thanks for commenting..M.A

Nice Mary Alice,

You're getting some good feedback there....! I would only add that the focus rectangle is really quite small and it could be picking out something in the background. Make sure you see the focus jump to a realistic distance and lock. Glad that you chose a good DOF setting like f16. Linc
