Where is this?

Ok, it's New York, but did you take the image from a ferry? It's amazing how clean the 'city' looks at a distance. Is B&H somewhere in the pic? :-):-) All I can remember about New York City, is the fact that you have to 'go like hell' when driving thru', the only place I know where aggressive driving may save your tail :-) Mary Alice, you have posted two images of the city, does this suggest that you have an aversion to photographing people? ..or just that cityscapes are your preference? Personally, I find it difficult to shoot people(pun intended). I have a feeling that this image was captured on an overcast day. Such diffused soft light will show more detail and lose some of the strong contrast as evident with strong lighting. Your picassa software probably blew out any detail there might have been in the sky. Maybe that's good- it allows you to focus on the architecture. I would only suggest that you punch up the saturation a little. I can bet that the real life scene was a lot more saturated than this image. Only rambling thoughts and ideas.... Linc

Gray Day

Actually, people are my favorite subject..especially children..candids.. we had taken friends from the South to see the "Big Apple." It was a wonderful but Gray day...It is not a common sight for me, so I was I was quite saddened by this post 9/11 view from a Ferry...it was so hard to imaging what had happned right in front where I was standing...NY was a wonderful place to visit...I did it twice last summer and hope to go more often this summer....I live in Pennsylvania during the summer..so I am not that far away.....as far as color , it was so gray and so colorless...I would appreciate what to in that situation..( crop out more.of the sky)?thanks...
