what exactly is 'smart sharpening' in PS CS2?

smart sharpending

It appears to be an enhancement of the "unsharp mask" in the filters menu. It allows for individual adjustment of shaows and highlights and removal of motion blur, though I haven't really utilized many of these features yet. I try to keep it as simple as possible, I'm not a big fan of post-processing/computer work at all.
