Raul...
This is a fun little story. I was just walking down his street, as the sun was going down. He was sticking his torso out of the open top-half of the door. i was across the street, taking photos of "Garage." curious, he called out to me. i can't speak spanish, so, there was this awkward few minutes of me trying to explain what i was doing, he said something in french as a joke--which i CAN speak--turns out he is completely fluent in french. this is basically a snap of his amusement to the unexpected fact that he was speaking to a chinese woman, from the US, in french. likewise, i was so happy to be able to fully explain to someone in full sentences what i was doing. his friend dropped by to chat with him, and noticing the halo around his profile, i started snapping. i wish that i had pulled back a little bit, to get his entire hand. i have other shots from this meeting with raul, with more thoughtfully framed composition. but i like the light from this angle the best.
