Quilotoa loop 2 - James Castellini

In the Ecuadorean Andes, on a road used more by people and animals than by automobiles. In places there are fences (which may be designed to protect livestock from steep slopes). I tried to capture a section of this kind of fence, and though this shot does depict the fence well, it shows the fenceposts (the plants in the foreground). These fenceposts were tree limbs planted in the ground. The limbs of the Arbol de la Vida (Life Tree) continue to grow out of the ground! (It is also called the Lechero because if you break a leaf, leche (milk) comes from the break.
