Elogio del Horizonte-2 - Baltasar Alvarez Quintana

While photographing the huge construction by Spanish/Basque sculptor Chillida (see my other submission in The contax Pages id=18972) on another ocassion, a seagull happened to fly by. The line at the bottom- the pier at Musel Harbour in Gijón- , the sea water and the simplicity of the whole scene help make the photo. Selected for the Hall of Fame on 2006/May/01

great shot, when i first looked at it i thought it was a painting. i love the geometry, the bird, and the angle. it is overall a great shot.
Matt McLoone 17-Feb-2005 at 11:39Thanks, Matt
Kertèsz- one of my favourites ever- confessed he had to wait some 30 years for the picture of a pigeon flying, wings open, into the ruins of a turn-down house in his "Landing Pigeon. New York, 1960" "My" bird - a seagull- appeared unexpectedly, as I mention above, greatly contributing to the final making of the photograph. (By the way, Kertész's photo and mine are completely different. Not that a want to compare, of course...)
