Thanks Paul for your comments. I cannot recall aperture but it was either f8 or f16. I dont think I could have stepped down much more and retained high enough shutter speed. The situation did not allow use of a tripod. Please explain remark re "horizontal" Robert Ferguson

I am attracted to the water, to the stone and the moss, but the roadway and the whitewashed edging around the fir tree distract from the focus of this image. That said, I guess that a more concentrated view may have been impossible without getting your feet wet.

how difficult the compositional choices were for this image. Standing a bit to the right might have removed the road but the view of the water would likely have been compromised as well. Interesting problem.

Sorry Paul no horizontal /landscape shot. My own view is that this subject is a must for vertical treatment rather than horizontal. I do agree with other comments that cropping down to the pipe crossing the waterway about one third of the way down would be an improvement. This will remove distractions caused by the roadway and the tree. Robert Ferguson
