Very nice shot!
Mikhail Petrov 18-Feb-2004 at 09:56Well caught
The woman's posture and expression are priceless, and I like the composition.
Pete 18-Feb-2004 at 10:01Indeed!
The woman's posture and expression ARE priceless! It appears she's helping out by stabilizing the "step stool" w/ her foot. What a humorous slice of life. I have to give it up here Cosmin, you get a 10 from me.
Kevin Conville 18-Feb-2004 at 10:16FABULOUS!!!!!
I reserve my 10's for a very select few. This is one of them. Great work!
peter Casolino 18-Feb-2004 at 11:18joke photos
Funny, ha ha ... ok, time to start the massive dicussion on relative merits and place of joke photos as top image
Gregg Humphrey 18-Feb-2004 at 15:34--
I don't think it's a joke. I think it's a shot of life and livelihood, that also happens to be humorous.
Robin Kleb 18-Feb-2004 at 15:45Wow Gregg,
I'm a bit stunned. "Funny, ha ha ... ok, time to start the massive dicussion on relative merits and place of joke photos as top image" Seemingly, several points need to be made here- 1. This is obviously a real photo. 2. If this is staged than it's an amazing acomplishment 3. If it's not staged it's an extraordinary capture 4. It has a cultural context and commentary I'll stop here. For some reason, it IS obvious to me that this is a great photo.
Kevin Conville 18-Feb-2004 at 15:55The woman's nonchallant expression and pose is priceless
We need to sometimes be reminded that shrink wrapped meat doesn't just come from factories like computer chips do. This is really life on the farm.
Bob Michaels 18-Feb-2004 at 15:58Nothing...
more to be said...wonderful slice of life that had my wife and I rolling on the floor with laughter. Great shot.
Warren Dennis 18-Feb-2004 at 19:28Cosmin,
You have given me a well needed laugh! This imag is absolutely precious. I hope it stays on the front page for a loooooooooong time. Linc
Linc 18-Feb-2004 at 19:51Yow
Kevin and others, no offense intended. My comments were said with tounge firmly in cheek. This is a good capture (!) and like many of Cosmin's photo's has a timeless quality (could easily be 1904 instead of 2004). Personally, it's not a "10" image for me, but the humor certainly brings a smile. Peace brothers and sisters.
Gregg Humphrey 18-Feb-2004 at 20:36You're right Gregg
You certainly are entitled to your opinion, and you come by it honestly! I mistakenly thought you were being provactive, my mistake. I always look forward to your comments and insights so please don't hold back because of me! Peace.
Kevin Conville 18-Feb-2004 at 21:53Cosmin,
one of your best... images like this are what I love about photography (especially the ability of rangefinders to shoot the scenes unobtrusively)... a real 'slice of life' and as close to a 10 as I reckon I've seen for ages...
mike wing 18-Feb-2004 at 23:41-
An absolutely amazing capture!
Ewen Harrison 19-Feb-2004 at 01:15I hate to think
what I looked like whilst standing around in a Dorset farmyard studiously ignoring one of my spaniels being mated, but I'm glad Cosmin was not around!
Charez Golvala 19-Feb-2004 at 01:16The sexiest woman on Earth :)
A really funny shot. She reminds me a lot how women in the far rural areas where I live (Asturias, Spain) do look like!!
Ludwig Argüelles 19-Feb-2004 at 02:16LPD?
I just finished printing in my darkroom and the first thing to come to mind when I saw this was LPD paper developer. The tonal range appears as if this chemical was used to process the print. Of course, this is cyberspace. So this might not be tha case as the same effect can be made a number of ways. Great stuff here! True documentary material.
K. Michael Photography 19-Feb-2004 at 10:35Congrats Cosmin...
not only on another amazing image, but on the publication of your first book, and on being featured in the latest issue of Lenswork. I loved the article and seeing the images in your "rail" series.
Robert Mirani 19-Feb-2004 at 20:36Cosmin: can your translate "Buleasa" into english?
I'm curious if it translates into "lady waiting" or "swine mating"
Bob Michaels 20-Feb-2004 at 17:36I guess this is what you call makin' bacon.
Jim Tardio 20-Feb-2004 at 18:01Buleasa
is the name of the neighborhood in Salistea village. But I like the title gave by Jim: "making bacon". Thanks to all for your comments!
Cosmin Bumbut 21-Feb-2004 at 00:13Well
this is what I would call a production shot. Well done Cosmin.
Knut Skjærven 22-Feb-2004 at 03:29Simply Stunning...
the females expression, the way she is nonchalantly holding the plank steady with her foot, the hand on hip that says hurry up and finishing the job and the rustic rural surroundings! Photojournalism at its very best. This is by far the best shot on the site - for me at least!
Carl Radford 23-Feb-2004 at 07:28Jambony?
Fuck it hard!
K. Michael Photography 24-Feb-2004 at 04:33schizoidal, like it
Andrey Kaplan 23-Aug-2004 at 01:37Reportage
A brilliant reportage image. It doesn't take too much imagination to guess what's on the woman's mind. I guess she's always pleased to see it over and done with.
Keefo 29-Jun-2005 at 13:34I think
She's remembering last night's romance!
Ronald Wells 02-Oct-2006 at 18:20She's waiting to have a go too ! haha
