I find it hard to rate these two images. Of course everyone knows what happened on this terrible day, and everyone will guess that the smoke originates from the Pentagon, which is not visible in this image. Perhaps this 45mm shot will have more impact if you would make a panoramic crop that just includes the needle and the smoke, leaving out the foreground - which shows too much distracting detail.

Wilfred: There's no need to rate these images. I posted them more as reportage to provide everyone w/a glimpse of what Washington looked like about an hour after the Pentagon crash. The reason I included the foreground is that you can see, @ least on the actual negatives & scans, groups of onlookers on the various rooftops (like me & my fellow Federal refugees) gazing @ the horizon with curiosity & fear. BTW, not only was the weather beautiful, but the city was eerily quiet; although there were traffic jams leading out of town, there wasn't much honking & the only thing you could really hear was the sound of distant sirens, helicopters, & the occasional F-16.
