Very good image

but for some reason the absolutely great texture that I am looking for is not present. Don't know why. Maybe tripod needed, or perhaps new eyeglasses for me.

George, you're dead right, and using Wilfreds downsampling + manual focus on the scanner improves things quite a lot. Ultimately I'm just a bit lazy when it comes to digital finishing! Thanks for the comments - made me take the digital thing much more seriously!!! I shall give myself a decent kick in the derriere....
