like this better

imo this crop is better than the original. gives it more of a focal point and highlights the mist. i also like the pinky tinge to the sky.

John

I enjoy this one too. I find the crop just right, so you owe Jan one :-). I looks very, very blue - almost to an unnatural degree. Maybe it would benefit even more if you held back some blue? Just a thought.

The more I see this the more it appeals...

hence the change of rating!

Excellent judgement

on where to crop. The original was good, this is super.

excellent work

a very nice image made even better by creative cropping. Agree with Knut that perhaps it's just a bit too blue, but intense color lends to the overall mysterious mood.

Nothing to add.

I thought that cropping would work and it did.

I played

with the crop a little bit and put it up as full frame, but the crop is quite effective and I think I like this version. The blue is quite strong and all most to the point of overpowering the viewer. I did not change any of the levels of the colors it is how the film recorded it. To reduce the blue the pink and the white of the mist/clouds might have their level raised and some of the blue reduced a bit, well that is the plan. Thanks for all of the comments and the help..

swarthe . . .

John the blue atmospheric furl, fits, fine--this pre-dawn scene. I was more partial to the un-stopped version---the soft foreground is soothing.
