intimate

Louis--the delicate lighting, and the aire of intimacy between you, and your subject--are endearing. There are those here that might not appreciate the image(s) because it lacks 'shapiness' as that seems to be the 'measure' used most often to evaluate images on this site. However, I am enthralled by the obvious warmth of your images, and astute choice of film used to render this series--take a bow. And, afterwards--post more images of this ilk, please.

Glowing

One of those pictures that in my experience happens rarely and more bu chance than design. If you know how to ensure success, please tell us (unless that would make the magic go away).

Thanks Jerome.

Thanx a lot for your very nice compliments, I like to experiment with film, and I get a red cast like this almost always when I use a faster(800-3200 asa)daylight film, indoors, in little light, without flash.

Relaxed and intimate....

you can really see that she didnt care about you taking pictures of her. Subsequently she is completely relaxed and minds her own thoughts, rather than pose for the shot. Other than that I agree with Jerome; many people look for proof of exceptional sharpness and/or vivid color, because that is, they think, what they should be expecting from a Contax/Zeiss system. After using the camera for a while, I think the camera´s small size and easy operation are more important factors for the many excellent pictures we see on this site. It is just a great companion that gets taken along to special events and occasions much more easily than a bulky SLR outfit. Hence people use it more than they would an SLR, hence they improve on it a lot quicker, hence they take even more pictures and eventually master the system with all its strengths and weaknesses, knowing what it can and cant do. And then they finally arrive at artistry. This artistic aspect (like in Louis´ example), is too often overlooked.

Agree..

I agree with you Matt, if image quality was my only concern I would have used my medium format. I like to shoot in low light in crowded places, the general usability of the Contax is perfect.

Aluring photograph.

Works precisely because of, not in spite of, its soft focus and red-cast.
