great B&W tones in the main subject, but the background tea bags seem oddly muted. How did you keep the white highlights and black skin tones all w/in range w/o flash or reflector fill?

i love this. the contrast between her skin and the white wrapped round highlights her eyes and the expression in them. the concealed mouth adds to the interest, especially as it is such a direct look at the camera. i like the muted background and the fact she is off center, as it serves to highlight her further. great shot.

the film was dev'd in pyro which has a compensating action and this is why the range of tones loks pretty good in this image!
